My insomnia is back in full force. I'm back to only falling asleep when I take Zzzquil. First, problem (aside from not being able to fall asleep naturally) is that when I take the pills I struggle to wake in the morning. I wind up hitting snooze a bunch of times, going into work later than I would like and that means I get home in the evening later. Second problem, even with the pills I'm still not sleeping soundly through the night.
Unfortunately, there is no magic cure. I know once I'm able to start running longer distances and running several times a week that my insomnia will stop. But right now my body is in no condition to even 3 miles. I downloaded an app called PACER, and am on day 3 of a 7-day 'Couch to 10k Steps'. Every day I have to push myself to beat the previous days count. Tomorrow I need 7,000 steps. The last two day's I came in just over 6,500 steps.
This is the first part of my plan to get more active, which will help me lose weigh, keep it off, get ready to start running again, and eventually concur my insomnia.
Oh! I'm also using "The Walk app." It's by the same company that made Zombies Run! that I love so much. All you do is start a mission, (there are options to choose longer "routes," which I always do), the app runs in the background, keeping track of how many minutes you walk. As you walk, you collect/active recordings which you can listen to (or you can listen to them after your walk is over like I do). It's fun because each mission is an episode in the spy-thriller story, where you are the main character.
That's my check-in for today!
