Starting in January, I will once again begin the Medifast diet to lose excess weight and try to discover if I am gluten and/or lactose intolerant.
I did Medifast a year ago and had great results, but ended the diet suddenly as I was training for a half-marathon and needed more calories in my diet. Since then I've gone to a period of moderate depression. During this time, I was aware that I was not eating good foods, but I chose not to care. My weight has returned to almost the point I was at before I started Medifast. Mentally, I'm in a much better place and once again ready to make the commitment to eating well.
About the same time that I begin Medifast last year, I also began taking weekly injections of Embrel for a rare condition know as TRAPS Syndrome. For about 7 months I was symptom free then about the same time I stopped eating Medifast meals, I began to have minor symptoms again. (Minor being constant joint pain). Recently, I've begun to wonder if there was a connection between my symptom free months and my time on Medifast. I wonder if maybe it's because my diet was so balanced during that time, or because I wasn't eating gluten or dairy. Maybe it was because I wasn't eating any junky processed food. The only way to know for sure is to once again get on the diet, see if I get healthy again, and then slowly introduce foods back into my regular diet and see if I have a reaction.
I have almost a one month supple of meals left over from last year so I don't need to place an order yet. This time, I'm going to succeed.
